Chamber Committees and Priorities

Your Chamber of Commerce is designed to meet membership needs.  It is a volunteer organization of individuals and businesses who band together for the collective best interest of developing Waseca’s future.

Membership Retention /Growth/Services Division: 

Seeks to develop and promote membership participation and recognition through our program of work. Develops opportunities for business-to-business discount savings with networking and educational workshops, Business After Hours Membership Mixer, online benefits, recognition events, leadership development, Discover Waseca Careers-business tours, and Resource Center.

Economic Development Division:

Seeks to bring awareness of economic plans and projects affecting the greater Waseca community; issues dealing with economic development, retail, service, industrial, commercial tourism, and agribusiness economies.  Serves as a think tank to create community vision for economic development and growth.  The chamber works to communicate the advantages of living and doing business in Waseca.  “GrowMN” program is a vital part of this initiative.  It is a private sector, Minnesota wide program, partnering with the Minnesota Chamber created to retain business and dedicated to producing jobs and growing economic prosperity for our local area.  The “GrowMN” program conducts business interviews, builds relationships, and analyzes the collected data to effectively respond for assistance.

Ambassador Committee:

The Waseca Area Chamber Ambassadors are comprised of business professionals that serve as the chamber’s liaison to the business community. Dressed in their red, these professionals present New Member, Progress and Roots Awards to deserving businesses in the community.  The group recognizes investments in the community and promotes the value of chamber membership.

Agribusiness Committee:

The Agribusiness Committee of the Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to supporting and promoting the agricultural sector within the community. The primary focus of the committee is to plan and coordinate the annual Farm & City Luncheon held in March.

Events Committee:

The Events Committee of the Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce is responsible for planning and executing various events that raise funds for the Chamber and foster community engagement. These events include the Community Awards Banquet, Waseca County Free Fair Booth, the Golf Tournament, and the Business & Industry Celebration. The committee will work closely with the Chamber Executive Director and Chamber Staff. 

Legislative Committee: The Legislative Committee of the Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce aims to foster effective communication and collaboration between the Chamber, local businesses, and all levels of government. By organizing key events and facilitating engagement with policymakers, the committee ensures that the voices of our members are heard and considered in legislative processes. The committee will work closely with the Executive Director and Chamber Staff.

Membership Committee:

The Membership Committee of the Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to growing and maintaining a robust and engaged Chamber membership base. The committee focuses on identifying potential new members, nurturing relationships, and ensuring that current members feel valued and supported. The committee will work closely with the Chamber Executive Director and Chamber Staff. 

Workforce Development Committee:

The Workforce Development Committee of the Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to fostering a dynamic and skilled workforce by enhancing career readiness and professional development within our community. This committee plays a crucial role in strengthening the partnership with Waseca Public Schools and promoting lifelong learning among our residents. The committee will work closely with the Chamber Executive Director and the Waseca Public Schools’ Student Success Coordinator.

Discover Waseca Careers

The chamber is in collaboration with Waseca High School to coordinate 30+ students from Waseca Public School to participate in Discover Waseca Careers. These site visits will be an interactive, behind the scenes look giving the students exposure to local career opportunities. The students will interact with business executives.

SITE VISITS will include:

• Manufacturing, Technology and Engineering.
• Finance, Accounting
• Health
• Professional
• Entrepreneurship
• AgriBusiness
• Automotive
• Plumbing, Heating & Electrical trades
   

The chamber will coordinate two tours per month during the school year, assisting high school students moving into a career path.  The students will have the opportunity to visit up to 20 local businesses, morning site visits will run 35 minutes and students will carpool with a teacher to the businesses.
